Go down to the beach and have a blast on 21 January

12 January 2006

At the annual Beach Blast on 21 January, children aged 7-12 will be able to participate in a host of beach activities both in and out of the water.

The free event is at North Beach and run in conjunction with the North Beach Surf Life Saving Club and the North Wai Boardriders Club. Both clubs will demonstrate various surf activities including boogie boarding and surfing, and then encourage children to have a go under their expert tuition.

For families keen to stay dry there will be lots happening on the beach including cricket, touch, volleyball, a sandcastle competition, face painting, a free sausage sizzle and lots of spot prizes and giveaways.

Beach Blast kicks off at 11am with registration required for those wanting to participate in the water activities.  Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

If wet, Beach Blast will be held on Saturday, 28 January. Listen to Newstalk ZB or 91ZM for cancellations.

The event is funded by the Burwood/Pegasus Community Board.

For more details call the Council on 941 8999.
