Community Boards offer neighbourhood funding
13 September 2005
Christchurch Neighbourhood Week is back, from 29 October to 4 November, and Christchurch City Council’s six Community Boards are supporting community groups, large and small, who want to run events and activities to bring their neighbourhoods together. Small subsidies are available to groups who apply for funding before 3 October.
Neighbourhood Week is all about getting to know the people who live close to you. It’s about saying hi to your neighbours, chatting to them over the fence, inviting them in for a cuppa, or hosting a local gathering. Get your thinking cap on, because it’s time to reclaim your neighbourhood and make a difference.
Past events organised by the community have included barbecues, morning teas, street parties, shared dinners, working bees, Halloween parties, colouring competitions, family fun days, neighbourhood planting days, open days at local community centres and community gardens, fireworks celebrations, community walks, and walking school buses. If it brings your neighbourhood together, the Council wants to hear from you.
To apply for funding, pick up an application form from your local Council office, Service Centre or library, or download one here. To find out more about Neighbourhood Week, call 941 8999 and ask for your local Community Board contact, or click here.
