Children’s Day 2005 will again be celebrated in style this year with the annual free community event at The Groynes, off Johns Road in the north of the city.

Children’s Day at The Groynes -- on Sunday, 30 October, from 11am -- is a five hours of free family fun and entertainment. Among the enticements scheduled for this year’s event are stage performances, games for children and families, karate demonstrations, face-painting, stone-carving, boating on the lake, craft activities and a variety of good food.

This year’s event includes a focus on waste minimisation and recycling facilities will be available.

This community event is organised by Christchurch City Council, with funding support from its Shirley/Papanui Community Board and the assistance of local community groups and agencies.
