SLGOU and City Council reach recommended settlement

A recommended settlement between the Christchurch City Council and Southern Local Government Officers Union has been reached  in mediation, which resumed on Tuesday 21 June 2005.

The parties agreed to a proposed settlement which is endorsed and supported by mediator, Walter Grills. The settlement will be recommended to union members for ratification at a meeting on Wednesday, 29 June 2005.

In endorsing the settlement, mediator Walter Grills said, “I am pleased to have assisted the parties towards this settlement which I believe accommodates both the interests of the staff and the Council’s business objectives”.

The terms of the proposed settlement will be made public after the SLGOU members’ meeting.
