Christchurch Housing Forum to meet on Wednesday, 22 June

21 June 2005

The Oxford Terrace Baptist Church Lounge will tomorrow host a meeting of the Christchurch Housing Forum, made up of representatives from Christchurch City Council’s City Housing Unit, the Tenants’ Protection Association and Housing New Zealand Corporation.

The forum has been meeting regularly for several years and usually draws about 40 people, including property managers, landlords, representatives from Tenancy Services (part of the Department of Building and Housing) and people from other community groups with an interest in housing.

The forum runs from 12.30-2.30pm in the lounge of the Baptist Church on Oxford Terrace (near the Fire Station).
The forum has two parts. The first includes an “Around-Town Gossip” session, which is an opportunity for feedback from recent meetings, and the Task Group on Homelessness which will discuss the issue of substandard housing.

The other section of the forum will focus on Clean the Air. Representatives from the regional council ECan will discuss this issue and its impact on rental properties and other housing in Christchurch.

As well, all participants to the forum are encouraged to bring along a written housing issue they wish to be aired or discussed, these will be put in question format for invited politicians to respond to at the August meeting.
