Get walking and talking in Halswell

11 July 2005

If you live in or near Halswell and want to be a bit more active, the Halswell Walk N Talk is a great way to kick-start your week.

The group meets every Monday at 10am for a guided local walk. It’s a gentle stroll on the flat which lasts for around half an hour. The Walk N Talk is suitable for all ages, and an ideal way to get fitter with a friend while you discover the hidden gems in your community.

Every second Monday, the walk is followed by a stimulating talk - from d.i.y. home-selling, to cleaning up Christchurch's air, to sushi-making.

There’s no need to book. Just turn up at Halswell Library, on the corner of Sparks and Halswell Roads, Mondays at 10am during school terms. The next walk is on Monday 25 July. Parking is available.

Organisers suggest you have suitable walking shoes and bring a drink bottle. Parents with strollers are welcome. Walks are cancelled in heavy or persistent rain – listen to Newstalk ZB. Phone 941 6840 for further information.

The Walk N Talk is free, supported by Christchurch City Council’s Active Christchurch initiative, which provides free or low cost physical activity programmes across the city.
