Christchurch City Council Draft Annual Plan 2005/06 released

13 April 2005

Christchurch residents and ratepayers have an opportunity to comment on the Council’s plans for the next year.

The draft annual plan follows closely the commitments made in last year’s 2004-14 Long-Term Council Community Plan and explains any variations.

"The only exception is the change in the operation and management of the Council’s transfer/refuse stations to the Recovered Materials Foundation (RMF), with no change in the level of service, which was put out for public consultation last October,” says Roy Baker, The Council’s General Manager of Corporate Services.

“People are still welcome to comment on the draft Annual Plan, but because of the reduced size and content of the document, it’s anticipated that little will change from draft to final form.”

In order to maintain the levels of service proposed in last year’s long-term plan, an average rates increase of 3.49 per cent is proposed, slightly under what had been forecast.

People have until Friday 13 May to make any comments about the draft plan. They can hear more about it by attending a public meeting on Monday, 18 April, from 5.30-6.30pm at Our city O-Tautahi (corner of Worcester Boulevard and Oxford Terrace).

A summary of the draft plan was included in the council’s publication City Scene which was delivered to most households in the Council’s area last Friday.

● Copies of the draft Annual Plan are available at the Council’s office on Tuam Street, at the service centres and libraries or by phoning 941 8999. It can also be viewed online at www.ccc.govt.nz/haveyoursay Submissions can be made on the form in the draft annual plan document or on line. Submitters can also indicate if they would like to speak in support of their submissions. Hearings will be held from Tuesday 7 June to Friday 10 June.
