Process to address rubbish bag shortfall

17 May 2004

An 0800 number has been set up for people to phone if they discover a shortfall in their pack of 26 City Council rubbish bags.

The City Council became aware that some packs of rubbish bags only contained 25 bags once people began redeeming their coupons.

City Council solid waste manager Simon Collin says that investigations by the manufacturer indicate that any shortfall was confined to a small number of packs.

“The manufacturer, Elldex NZ Ltd, has checked more than 3000 packs and found that the number of affected packs is less than one per cent.

“Elldex has told us that it thinks the problem has arisen from bags been taken out of the manufacturing line for testing purposes.

“Both the City Council and the manufacturer want to ensure that people get the bags they are entitled to,” says Mr Collin.

People who find that their packs of bags do not contain 26 are asked to phone 0800 22 22 94. Outside the hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm, callers are asked to leave a message and Elldex will contact them the following day.

For more information contact Simon Collin on 941 8380 or 0274 377 997.
