Council made aware of possible rubbish bag shortfall
7 May 2004
The City Council has been made aware that some packs of Council rubbish bags may have a shortfall.
Simon Collin, City Council solid waste manager, says Council staff were alerted to the issue late this afternoon and the extent of the problem was therefore not yet known.
“The problem has come to light as people redeem this year’s coupon for one pack of 26 bags.
“The Council will be checking its stores on Monday. Depending on the results of those checks, we will then be able to investigate how we can best address the problem.”
The Council has been in contact with the company that supplies the rubbish bags, which is checking its systems.
Mr Collin says once the Council knows the extent of the problem, it can decide on the best solution to rectify the shortfall, which will then be publicly advertised.
“We ask that at this stage, if people do have a shortfall, that they are patient and wait for further information from the Council. We should be able to clarify the situation within 10 days.”
