Three more appointments at Christchurch City Council

Lesley McTurk, the Christchurch City Council chief executive, has recently announced three new appointments.

Stephen Hill has been appointed to the role of General Manager, Public Affairs.  Mr Hill has been the Director of External Relations for Environment Canterbury since 2000.  Prior to that he held a senior management role in communications and marketing with Hamilton City Council, and has held public relations positions in local government and the health sector.
As General Manager, Public Affairs Mr Hill will lead three teams, responsible for Communication and Consultation, Customer Services and Marketing.
Mr Hill will take up his new role with the City Council on 29 March.

Roy Baker has been announced as General Manager, Corporate Services and took up his new role at the City Council on 2 February. Mr Baker has more than 20 years experience in management and finance, most recently in a leadership role as General Manager Shared Services with Fonterra Cooperative Limited. Prior to that he was Chief Executive of Kiwi Cooperative Dairies after being Group General Manager Finance for seven years.
In his new role at the Council Mr Baker will lead teams responsible for Financial Services, IT Services, Funds and Financial Policy, Support Services and Business Improvement. 

Greg Williamson has been appointed to the position of Communication and Consultation Manager. Mr Williamson joined the Council from Jade Software Corporation and started his new role with the Council on 26 January.
Mr Williamson’s Communication and Consultation team sits in the Public Affairs Group, which includes Customer Services and Marketing.  

The new City Council structure has seven main groups (City Environment, Community Services, Strategic Development, Regulation and Democracy Services, Public Affairs, Corporate Services and Human Resources), each headed by a general manager reporting to Dr McTurk. In addition a Director of Strategic Investments provides advice to the Chief Executive on treasury and investment matters, and the Council’s trading organisations.
