Youth beware - RAPID ahead!

30 August 2004

The RAPID youth festival is ready for action again this year, with a whole heap of events and activities happening from 17 to 25 September.

Local bands have been battling for months for the chance to play at Audio Overload, the dance party that is the festival's biggest event. Last year's crowd at Audio Overload topped 1,200. With a sweet selection of top local bands, including 4manbob, it's sure to be a big one again this year on Saturday 25 September.

Now in its fourth year, RAPID offers much more than music and performance events. This year RAPID 's programme includes arts and outdoor activities like learn to surf, jewellery and art workshops, break dancing workshops, youth café band events, skate jams and rock climbing.

Community groups and youth agencies have submitted events for inclusion in RAPID.  Anything that appeals to young people and promotes positive recreation is considered.  The festival is funded by The Community Trust and Christchurch City Council.

Brochures are now out on the streets (in skate shops, schools, cafes, libraries etc), or check out the details (including where to buy tickets for some events,) at www.4yp.co.nz.
