Meridian Energy Fireworks Extravaganza

3 November 2003

Wednesday November 5th, New Brighton Pier and Beach, 9.30pm.

Tequilla, Tango, and Livin’ La Vida Loca…Guy Fawkes goes dancin’ on The Pier!!

Gerandolas (or Spanish silver missiles), choreographed fan chases and comet tails, mine and comet chase sequences, hundreds of star shells and even Mei Tai Grand Meeting … just a sample of the fireworks designed to startle and thrill in this year ’s Meridian Energy Fireworks Extravaganza.

Christchurch-based Fireworks International are setting the show to dance music down the decades from Glen Miller to rap and then synchronising the firing to the sound track broadcast live on 94.5 LITE FM and 1260 AM at 9.30pm, Wednesday 5 November.

This year’s event is more expansive, using the sea, the sky and pier length as the full canvas for a pyrotechnic light show and illuminations as well the traditional drawcard of whiz, bang and sparkles.

"Creatively, the Meridian Energy Fireworks Extravaganza is a step out from the expected and the toe-tapping sound track will set a blinding pace!" Comments CCC Events Team Leader, Islay McLeod.

The Events Team has coordinated this annual event for sponsors Meridian Energy for the past 7 years.
