Seminar on northern roading report
5 March 2003
The City Council is holding a seminar for people interested in the traffic
consultant’s report on the Northern Roading Options Scoping Study
(NROSS).
It is being held on Wednesday 12 March at 7pm at the Council’s Papanui
Service Centre (cnr Langdons Road and Restell Street). City Councillors
and Council staff will outline the report and there will be an opportunity
for discussion and questions.
CCC Principal Transport Planner Stuart Woods stresses that no decisions
have yet been made about the future of roading in north Christchurch.
“
The Council is still to debate its options and is likely to make
a decision in April/May about what to do next,” he says.
“
This seminar is not part of a formal submission process. It’s another
opportunity to make the information about the study available to interested
groups and individuals, and for Councillors to hear people’s views.”
The traffic consultant’s report, released in November 2002, examines
the 1600 submissions made by the public about the draft roading strategy
(NROSS) released for consultation by the City Council, Transit NZ, Environment
Canterbury, and Waimakariri and Hurunui district councils. It includes further
traffic modelling analysis, which assesses the effects of modifying the
draft strategy to address concerns raised during consultation. The report
goes on and recommends a way forward.
For those interested in reading the report or the executive summary, both
are available from the Civic Offices in Tuam Street and the Council website
