28 March 2003
The largest number of nationalities to ever be represented at a Christchurch
citizenship ceremony will be at next Tuesday’s 1.30pm ceremony in
the Limes Room, Christchurch Town Hall.
People from Venezuela,
Kazakhstan, Namibia and Costa Rica will be among new citizens from
43 nationalities.
“
Citizenship ceremonies are a wonderful reflection of Christchurch’s
increasing cultural diversity,” Christchurch City Council international
relations co-ordinator, Barbara August says
“
In recent times there have generally been between 30 and 33 different
nations represented.” This will be the case at another citizenship
ceremony at the Town Hall at 9.30am on Tuesday.
