Comment invited on Council’s Dog Control Policy
12 June 2003
Now is the time to have your say on proposed changes to the Christchurch
City Council ’s
Dog Control Policy.
A pamphlet outlining the suggested changes was posted
to all registered dog owners last week and is available to the general
public through Council
service centres and Christchurch City Libraries. It can also
be read on the website www.ccc.govt.nz/HaveYourSay.
Feedback on the
changes must be with the Council by 18 July. Comments can be made
by returning the pamphlet freepost, writing to the Council’s
environmental health policy leader or through the Have Your Say
website.
The Council decided at its March 2003 meeting that the
proposed changes should be distributed for public consultation.
The alterations focus on
making regulations easier for dog owners to understand; protecting
popular beach areas from fouling; increasing children’s safety and;
preventing dogs from causing harm to sensitive wildlife areas.
