Dublin Street Meets Cathedral Square

FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert, Friday 2nd September, 12.15pm, to 1.15pm, Cathedral Square.

The sounds of Ireland will play out this Friday in Cathedral Square when Dublin Street perform their well-known favourites, mixed in with requests, and original interpretations.

Jeremy Brownbrook on fiddle and vocals, Russell Gillies on Bass and vocals, Willee McArther on guitar and vocals, Chris Head on drums and vocal, and Sophia Bidwell on accordion and vocals make up a band that specialize in good-time music that brings a smile.

The band have played private gigs all over town, as well as St Patrick’s Day Concerts, and pub performances.

Their influences are listed as Van Morrison, REM and The Pogues, and they feel that the resurgence of interest in Irish music is in part due to visits to New Zealand from bands like The Corrs, and performances of Riverdance and other similar Irish inspired concerts.

Harking from other popular local bands such as Shibeen, Turkey Buzzard, and Oyster, the members of Dublin Street are polished performers who enjoy bringing their fun brand of Celtic-style sound to audiences of all ages.
