Gitano Play Latin Guitar in Cathedral Square
FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert, Friday 31st May 12.15pm to 1.15pm, Cathedral Square.
Gitano is a Spanish word meaning Gypsy, and it expresses the freedom and passion
of the people and the guitar music of Spain and Latin America. Gitano the guitar duo came together in 1997, initially playing
a selection of popular flamenco pieces. They played in and around South East
Queensland, and have since refined and developed their sound in the ensuing
years. They will play in Cathedral Square this Friday as part of the Free Friday
Lunchtime Concert Series, presented by Christchurch City Council Leisure. A self titled album was released in 2000, and the duo have broadened their
performance to include brass, percussion, and conga players. With an emphasis on feel and spontaneity, Gitano bring a sense of style and
  refinement to their Latin sounds.
