Cantabrians Urged To Show True Colours
Christchurch Mayor Garry Moore has declared Friday a ‘red and black’ day and is encouraging fellow Cantabrians to show their true colours in the lead up to the Crusaders big game on Saturday.
“Having the Super 12 rugby final in Christchurch is a huge boost for the region and we want to dress up the city,” he says.
“Getting behind the red and black day is a visible way that Cantabrians can show their support of the team, and pride in their region.
"It is important that the city shows its support for the Crusaders and for the visiting Brumbies to be given the clear message that they are in red and black territory!”
The Christchurch City Council’s Tuam Street staff will be showing their support by decorating their offices in red and black. A competition is being run, with Deputy Mayor Lesley Keast as judge, to find the best ‘red and black’ decorated office area and the best dressed.
