Wainoni Park Community Planting Day

A community planting day is being held in Wainoni Park on Saturday 6 July, 11am-1pm.

The planting will be around the new play area on Hampshire Street which is the first project being developed in the renewal of Wainoni Park. It will be followed by a free sausage sizzle for all participants.

Local residents have been actively involved in redesigning the park to create more recreation opportunities for the whole community, and to improve safety and visibility in the park. Continued community involvement is important to ensure that planned new developments meet local needs and that the park is well managed and cared for.

An opening day for the new play area is being planned for springtime, with fun activities for the whole family.

As well as upgrading play facilities, other possibilities being considered for Wainoni Park are sports areas, hard courts, gardens and pathways, barbeques and picnic areas, toilets and a stage for music and break dancing.
