Kung Fu, Romance, and Ice Adventure Movies to Screen in Community Locations

SummerTimes® TWILIGHT MOVIES, February 7 Barnett Park, February 8 Halswell Quarry, and February 9 International Antarctic Centre, 8pm Jazz, 8.45pm movies.

Movies outdoors and under the stars return for a second year as part of this years hugely successful SummerTimes® festival.

Thousands enjoyed the unique experience last year, and this time, movies are coming to the people when they screen in three well known community locations.

Prior to the movies superb jazz band Spiral will help the crown relax into their picnic spot.

Thursday February 7th sees the high action kung-fu western Shanghai Noon screen to audiences in Barnett Park, Redcliffs.

Jackie Chan plays a Chinese man who travels to the Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess. After teaming up with a train robber, the unlikely duo takes on a Chinese traitor and his corrupt boss. Lucy Liu from Ally McBeal and Charlies Angels co-stars in this stunt-filled action adventure. It’s all Western with an Eastern flavour!

On Friday February 8th Halswell Quarry is the place to cuddle-up to the romantic comedy Duets, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Hughie Lewis, as a professional karaoke hustler who reconnects with his daughter.

In this film the lives of six strangers become outrageously entwined when a riotous road trip culminates at the site of the national Karaoke championships.

Finally the ice and snow adventure movie Vertical Limit will be appropriately presented at the International Antarctic Centre on Saturday February 9th. This film was shot in New Zealand, and features Chris O’Donnell as a climber who must rescue his sister on top of K2, one of the world's biggest mountains. The International Antarctic Centre will offer attractions at half price from 6pm to 9pm, and later from 11pm to midnight. The café is also open from 5pm to 11pm.

This event is proudly presented by Christchurch City Council Leisure, and is supported by 94.5 Lite FM
