Jahmen to play Cathedral Square

SummerTimes® Free Lunchtime Concert Friday 22nd February, 12.30pm to 1.30pm Cathedral Square

Cruise to the funky Island rhythms of ‘Jahmen’ in Cathedral Square this Friday 22nd February, as part of the SummerTimes® festival of free outdoor entertainment.

Jahmen’, all members of the Samoan Congregational Church Choir, consists of Steve Tafea (ex Brothers in Harmony, Pacific Underground) on rhythm guitar, Fuivai Fiso (ex Rising Stars, I & I) on keyboards, Allan Asomua on percussion, Malua Iakopo on bass guitar, and Mark Molioo on drums. The band has been performing their original blend of reggae, funk, grunge, and rock, for seven years.

In 2000, Jahmen appeared on an episode of TVNZ show ‘Mai Time’, were selected as finalists in a ‘Bloke Stars’ Competition by local radio station 92 MoreFM, and recorded a few of their original compositions at the Nightshift Recording Studio. Last year ‘Jahmen’ were seen performing at the Tasi festival, and a concert for the Supergames. So far this year they have featured at the local Pacific Island Festival ‘Ua’.
