Christchurch City Council Media Release 12 February 2002

Free Coffee as reward for observing P5

Parents dropping off their children at St Albans School, who observe the new five minute parking restriction outside the school, are this week being rewarded with a coffee voucher.

The City Council established a new P5 zone at the beginning of the school year, to ease traffic congestion outside the school on Sheppard Place, which is a cul de sac. Smoother traffic flows outside schools are important in improving the safety of all concerned, including children and other pedestrians, and drivers.

For more information: Paul Cottam, City Council’s Safe Routes to School Co-ordinator, ph: 941 8299.

Photographic opportunity: Thursday 14 February, at 8.45am the principal of St Albans School, Bob Smith, will be assisting Paul Cottam in rewarding parents with coffee vouchers.
