Christmas Lunchtime Concerts in Cathedral Square

Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th, Friday 20th December, Cathedral Square, 12.15 to 1.15pm. FREE

The Christmas spirit continues in Cathedral Square this week with a series of free lunchtime concerts to entertain Christmas shoppers in the Central City.

Wednesday 18th sees Barock perform from 12.15 to 1.15pm. Formed in 1990, they are a 5 piece band that entertain with a huge variety of music - from baroque to rock! Greg Knowles on trumpet and bass, Judith Bell on sax, flute and clarinet, Tim Bell on keyboards, Michael Bell on bass and Arron Perriam on drums make up this diverse group.

On Thursday 19th the Christmas Angels perform Christmas songs. Genevieve Jenson (13) and Ashleigh Watts (14) met at Canterbury Opera Youth and performed for the first time together last year. Genevieve has wanted to be an opera singer for as long as she remembers, and used to listen to opera music with her Gran. She has performed onstage in Canterbury Opera productions, and has gained a small role in their 2004 season of "A Little Nights Music’.

Friday 20th ends the Christmas lunchtime series, and The Canterbury Plainsmen celebrate the season with their special brand of À cappella singing.
