A Danish architect who is known world-wide for his designs of urban space will be in Christchurch from 5-6 September.
Dr Jan Gehl, who has written books and made films on his subject, will speak to professionals and the public about public space design and also the Christchurch City Council has asked him to look at the central city, now under a revitalisation plan, and offer advise.
Dr Gehls work has taken him around the world and his most recent project has been in Riga, Latvia, working for the World Bank. There he did a survey of the quality and use of downtown public spaces and environment.
Members of the public wishing to hear Dr Gehl speak can attend a public meeting on Thursday 6th September from 7pm to 9pm in the Christchurch Netball Centre in South Hagley Park
