Top Environmental Awards To Be Made
Three top environmental awards will be made in the city on Friday 28 September.
They will be the Christchurch City Council’s annual environmental awards that are given for the Built and Natural Environment and third for Services to the Environment.
This is the fourth year of the awards and the winners will be announced and presented with special medallions and certificates at a ceremony in the Our City premises, Municipal Chambers, at the corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Boulevard. Also, in a separate ceremony, the first stage of the refurbishing of the building will be marked.
The environmental awards are made by the City Council on the recommendation of the Environment Committee that is advised by a special panel. The chairwoman of the committee, Cr. Anna Crighton, says the awards recognise outstanding contributions to the city’s built, natural and services to the environment. As well as the three top awards, certificates for runners-up will be presented in each of the three categories. Nominations for this year’s awards totalled about 30 and that number was whittled down to a dozen that were inspected by the judging panel. Further information: Warren Brixton, City Council: 941 8439.
