Sports guide for summer

A free guide to the local summer sports season has been published.

The ‘Christchurch Sports Guide, Summer 2001-02’ provides a detailed list of sports contacts on a variety of sporting codes. The 50,000 copies will be given away to anyone interested in playing sport or joining a club. It follows the inaugural guide put together by Christchurch City Council Leisure for the winter sports season.

Christchurch City Council sports promotions assistant Chris Wallace says the guide provides participants, supporters, administrators and parents with everything they need to know about the summer sport season.

“The guide has been likened to a type of sports ‘bible’ for local sports. The aim is to encourage more people to take part in organised sport by making it as easy as possible for them to find the information they need,” he says.

As well as sports clubs and associations, the guide lists details on sports venues and parks, sports development, promotion and funding.

Copies of the guide are available from local sports shops, schools, council libraries and service centres or phone 941 6840 to have one sent to you.
