Hands-on workshops are to be held at Travis Wetland Heritage Park next month.
The New Zealand Ecological Restoration Network of Christchurch will be conducting the one-day, public Habitat Restoration Day, at Travis Wetland, which is being held to celebrate ecological restoration on Sunday 28 October.
The network is a group of individuals and organisations with a common interest in ecological restoration. It includes schools, nurseries, local authorities, land-care groups, service clubs, fishing clubs and conservation organisations. The day will begin at 9am, and will include wetland planting and tours of Travis Wetland to view native birds and recent developments. The workshops will include planting techniques, the selection of plants, planning, funding, pest control, weed control, Ngai Tahu and riparian planting.
