Free Lunchtime Concert Friday 7 September, 12.30pm to 1.30pm Cathedral Square |
P-Bass Expressway will liven up Cathedral Square this Friday lunchtime, with its original 70s funk sound.
Formed in 1999, P-Bass Expressway perform regularly at local bars and nightclubs in Christchurch, at venues such as Base, the Jetset Lounge and the Dux-de-lux. The band is currently working on its first CD under the Cheeky Chimp label, and drummer Ariel White says "sixties and seventies funk acts, Herbie Hancock, Poets of Rhythm, The Meters, and The Blackbyrds have been the main influences on the bands music style".
Performing their happy funk music on stage will be: Nava Thomas on keyboards, Dan Collins on guitar, Richie Pickard on bass, Ariel White on drums, and Kurt Dyer on percussion.
The funk revival is alive and well in Christchurch.
