Messages Of Condolences At Civic Offices
Nearly 20 pages of a book of condolences for victims of the American tragedy have been filled at the Christchurch City Council.
The book was opened last week for messages by Christchurch residents and will be available all this week in the foyer at Civic Offices, Tuam Street.
Members of the public are invited to write their messages this week - but the book could remain longer if residents continue to come to the Council to use the book. When it is closed, the book will be sent to the American Embassy in Wellington and from there it will go to Washington. The first message is by Mayor Garry Moore. He wrote: “Please accept my deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.” Further on in the book is a message by the Deputy Mayor, Lesley Keast. It says: “God bless America.”
