Documentary On Ngaio Marsh House
A documentary about the Ngaio Marsh House is to be screened as part of Heritage Week from 12-19 October.
The house, in Sherwood Lane, Cashmere, was occupied by the late crime novelist and theatrical director, Dame Ngaio Marsh, for 76 years until her death there almost 20 years ago. "Marton Cottage" is now a living museum dedicated to her memory as one of
Canterburys most distinguished citizens. The Ngaio Marsh House and garden is open to the public ($10 admission for a one-hour
guided tour) and small groups are encouraged to visit by appointment. The Heritage Week documentary is being made by CTV for screening on 18 October (9am),
19 October (1pm), and 21 October (6pm). It is a 24-minute pilot programme and is a joint project among CTV, the
Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board and the Ngaio Marsh House and Heritage Trust, which
manages the property on a non-profit basis. Further information: Dr Bruce Harding: 364 2987, ext 7974; fax: 364 2002; email:
