Cycling In Road Tunnel
The annual public cycle ride through the Lyttelton Road Tunnel will be held on Sunday 23 September.
It will start at 10.30am and cyclists, who must bring their own bikes, will amass in the Gondola car park before setting off. A gold coin donation is needed for entry.
No latecomers will be allowed in the tunnel after the cyclists have left. The return journey through the tunnel will start from Lyttelton at 1.45pm. This event will follow the two-day conference on cycling in Christchurch and be attended by delegates from all over New Zealand and some from overseas. A keynote speaker will be Karel K de Roy van Zudewyn from Utrecht in the Netherlands who is a senior traffic policy co-ordinator for 23 local authorities.
