Voting Returns Reach 36 Per Cent

So far 82,150 voting papers have been returned to the Electoral Offices in the Christchurch City Council elections.

This represents 36.06 per cent of the 227,793 voting papers sent out.

Voting will close at noon on Saturday and the results should be available within hours of the close of the postal poll.

Voting papers must be in the mail by tomorrow to reach the Electoral Office in time for counting.

If people miss Thursday’s post, they should deliver their voting papers to the Civic Offices, 163 Tuam Street, where a ballot box for returned votes is located adjacent to the ground-floor reception desk.

The Civic Offices will be open for the return of voting papers up until the close of the poll at noon on Saturday.

Only one ward, Waimairi, so far has topped a 41 per cent return.

The lowest polling ward at present is Hagley with a 26.68 per cent return.
