Voting Returns Reach 32.92%

So far 75,000 voting papers have been returned to the Electoral Office in the Christchurch City Council elections.

This represents 32.92 per cent of the 227,793 voting papers sent out.

Voting will close at noon on Saturday 13 October and the results should be available within hours of the close of the postal poll.

Voting papers posted to the Electoral Office must be in the mail no later than Thursday to be in time for counting.

Only two wards have topped a 35 per cent return - Burwood, and Waimairi. Hagley (24.72 per cent) and Shirley (29.78 per cent) remain under 30 per cent.

Special votes can be obtained at the ground floor, Civic Offices, 163 Tuam Street, between 8.30am and 5pm until Friday and 9am-noon on Saturday.
