Unified Beats In Cathedral Square
FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert, Cathedral Square
Friday November 23rd, 12.30 to 1.30pm

A fresh mix of hip hop, rhythm and blues, funk and rock - with a unique Pacific sound pulling it all together are promised by the young band Unified 1's this Friday lunchtime.

Originally from Aranui High School, the six members site their musical influences as Che Fu, Anika Moa and Bic Runga among others. Together they have gained third place at the Pepsi Smokefree Rockquest and achieved a third overall in the Pacifica Beats competition in Hamilton.

Lead vocalist June Filifili writes the bands originals, and she says that despite the accolades, the band is quite modest about their work. " It's quite weird, because we never thought we'd get this far" says June.

Hard work and commitment , along with the solid support of teacher Oakley Grenell have culminated in this young band feeling confident that they have a bright future together.

Unified 1's play this Friday lunchtime, in Cathedral Square.
