Mayor to Farewell Troops
A Mayoral reception will be held on Wednesday 14 November to farewell New Zealand troops posted with the United Nations to East Timor.
This will be held at the Civic Offices, Tuam St, first floor, at 5pm.
Christchurch’s Mayor Garry Moore will speak along with the Commanding Officer of the New Zealand Battalion 5 Group, Lieutenant Colonel Antony Hayward.
The 550-strong battalion, drawn predominantly from Burnham Military Camp, will leave for East Timor over this month.
