In Cathedral Square

To celebrate New Zealand Music Week a small selection of the cities bands and soloists will be performing an exciting mixture of pop, hip-hop and ‘rock n roll’, in Cathedral Square on Friday 11 May.

The line-up will include the well known four-piece pop band The Heavy Jones Trio who recently toured nationwide as the supporting act for Zed’s Silencer Tour, Jody Lloyd (one half of the hip-hop duo ‘Dark Tower’) originally from Christchurch but currently based in Auckland will perform solo. The Stefan Van Sooest Machine, known for their diverse and eclectic sound, and their performances with New Zealand acts Neil Finn and ‘Garageland’, will add an element of hard rock, together with sixties pop, and eighties love songs, while punk rock band Orkid will deliver another of their high energy punk rock performances.

22 year old rapper MC 4Higher, completes the concert line-up with his evocative poetics presented in a popular and yet unique hiphop style.
