After being given the news that they are unable to get all of their 25 strong band on a flight to Honolulu in July, the 'Garden City Big Band', Christchurch's most popular big jazz band, will sound off their disappointment in Cathedral Square this Friday.
Having late last year received an invitation to perform at the world renowned Honolulu International Jazz Festival, the 'Garden City Big Band' spent six months fundraising for the trip, only to have their dreams dashed at the last moment by full flights. The manager of the band, Stu Buchanan says 'we won't let it happen again next year, so we're booking our seats now for 2002, at least it will give us more time to fundraise for the trip!'
Show the 'Garden City Big Band' that you support them this Friday in Cathedral Square, and enjoy their enthusiastic mixture of jazz, disco, and rock music.
