Japanese Tea Ceremony In City Council Offices
Students of a Japanese High School will perform the traditional tea ceremony at the Christchurch City Council offices on Tuesday 19 June.
Twenty-two students from Tenshin Gakuen High School, Sakata City, Yamagata prefecture, Japan, are in Christchurch to study English at the Canterbury Language College. Students from the school visit Christchurch annually.
They thought the Council was an ideal place to hold the ceremony and the Deputy Mayor, Lesley Keast, will be the guest of honour.
The tea ceremony will be held at 10am in the Councillors’ Lounge, First Floor, Civic Offices, Tuam Street, on Tuesday 19 June.
