A Blast From the Polyester-Past with Retro! – a Celebration of the 1970’s

Retro! North Hagley Park Triangle Entertainment Area, Sunday February 4th, 2pm to 5pm - FREE

This Sunday in Hagley Park, the rustle of flares and static of polyester pants will blend with bad haircuts and wobbly platform shoes as Retro! – a celebration of the 1970’s -debuts in an afternoon of great music.

In this feature event of SummerTimes, three bands will pump out those loved and loathed hits from 30 years ago. Stonefish are Daniel Gibson on lead vocals and percussion, John Parkinson on bass and vocals, Darren Andrews on guitar and vocals, Luke Smiley on drums, and David Wakely on keyboards. “ We like to take a 1970’s song, and give it a new feel for today”, says Daniel.

The Vague-As Brothers, are Les and Dick-E, superstars in their own paisley living-rooms, and hot off the working-men’s club circuit. This duo ooze style and sophistication, and their repertoire includes Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Tom Jones and manymore. They’ll be joined by special guests and go-go dancers The Fabulous Vaguettes.

Pureč are Dominique Mallard on vocals, Kelvin Mallard on vocals and guitar and Shane Bollingfordon percussion. Joining them is Ruben Hiku on bass guitar and vocals.“A 1970’s event is right up our alley”, says Kelvin “ we’ll be playing a funk/boogie set along with a little ABBA, The Begees, and Disco’.
