"Babelfish" - more than just a creature of fiction...
SummerTimes Free Lunchtime Concert
Friday 26 January 2001, 12.30pm to 2.00pm
Cathedral Square
In Christchurch for only a short stay, the 'Babelfish' folk duo will play covers and original pieces, incorporating a broad spectrum of musical styles from gypsy to light jazz, classical, and contemporary, in Cathedral Square on Friday 26 January.
'Babelfish' are Tim Nash on guitar and vocals, and Kerrin Brizzell on violin and vocals.
Tim hails from London, while Kerrin is originally from Christchurch but now based in the U.K. playing and teaching in and around Norwich.
Kerrin was well known in Christchurch in the 1980's when she taught violin and played in the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Since basing herself in England, Kerrin's playing has flourished and given her experience performing a variety of musical styles with dance bands, orchestras, jazz groups, and folk bands.
The Babelfish name is perhaps a reflection of Tim and Kerrin's eclectic style as it refers to a creature of fiction that has the ability to translate intergalactic communication by being inserted into ones ear.
Don't miss this rare opportunity to see 'Babelfish' perform in Cathedral Square.
