Art Gallery $31 Million Contract Signing

The official signing of the contract to build Christchurch’s new Art Gallery will be held in the Civic Offices at 12.30pm on Thursday 25 January.

The chairman of the Projects and Property Committee, Cr. Ron Wright, will sign the $31,165,209 million contract with the contractor, C Lund and Son Ltd., on behalf of the Christchurch City Council.

Work has already started on the site bounded by Worcester Boulevard, Gloucester Street and Montreal Street.

It is expected that construction will finish in October 2002 with the new gallery opening to the public in March 2003.

The signing will be held in the No. 3 Committee Room, first floor, Civic Offices.
