Christchurch City Council Media Release 5 February 2001

Movies - The Old Fashioned Way, in Victoria Square

The Telecom Twilight Movies Series, part of SummerTimes outside in the Victoria Square Ampitheatre, Thursday February 8th, 15th and 22nd, at 8.30pm. FREE

Don’t miss this comedy Darl! It’s The Castle – a modern day Aussie comedy classic featuring the Kerrigans, a Sydney family from the bad side of the tracks, whose home by the airport is suddenly under threat, with hilarious consequences!

The Telecom Twilight Movie Series is a new SummerTimes event, and is designed to bring the magic of the movies to the people of Christchurch, but with a special twist: audiences will get to enjoy these films outside and under the stars!

" It’s reviving part of that ‘drive-in’ movie magic from the past, and placing the event in a terrific location’ says Beatrice Cheer, Christchurch City Council Leisure Events Promoter. "Telecom have really helped us do something a bit different, and with any luck the weather will be on our side!".

The Telecom Twilight Movie Series begins this Thursday 8th, with The Castle, and continues on Thursday 15th with Never Been Kissed, and finishing on Thursday 22nd with The Full Monty.

Audience members are encouraged to bring cushions or low chairs, and a rug or jacket for when the evening cools down. Some food will be available onsite, and convenient parking is available at The Parkroyal or Farmers carparks.

Call 9416 840 during office hours to confirm screening, or listen to 98fm, 91zm, or Newstalk ZB.

This event is made possible by Telecom, Christchurch City Council Leisure, and The Christchurch Star.
