Wainoni Road bridge closure
Wainoni Road, from the New Brighton Rd roundabout to east of Hulvestone Drive, will be closed to all traffic on Sunday 18 February between 7am and 7pm.
The closing is to allow for repairs to the road between the west bridge abutment and Hulvestone Drive and to complete repair work on a broken water main on the east side of the bridge.
The Christchurch City Council City Streets Unit says alternative routes to New Brighton Road to the north are via Breezes Road to Avondale Road or Orrick Crescent, Briarmont Street and Hulverstone Drive to Avondale Road. Alternative routes New Brighton Road to the south are via Breezes Road to Pages Road or Bexley Road to Pages Road. Motorists are advised that the detours are substantial and that extra travelling times will be involved.
