World Champ Rob Waddell In City

World rowing champion and current Sportsman of the Year Rob Waddell will be in Christchurch at the end of March.

He will be here for the Active8 Expo, a convention on fitness, where Rob will speak about his lifestyle, training and experiences.

He will be speaking at Queen Elizabeth II Sport and Leisure Centre from 7.45am to 8.30am on Saturday 31 March 2001.

Rob, who has just joined Team New Zealand, the America’s Cup holder, says he is excited to be coming to Christchurch for the big event.

The convention, organised by the Christchurch City Council’s Queen Elizabeth II Sport and Leisure Centre, is targeted at fitness and health professionals as well as those wanting an insight into the latest sports technology and education.

A high-calibre group of presenters will take part in the event.

They include Steve Gurney, multi winner of the Coast to Coast, John Hellemans, athlete and director of sports medicine at Queen Elizabeth II Centre, Erica Shalders, international aerobics trainers, Mike Anthony, All Blacks trainer, and Terry Hughes, weightlifter and trainer.

The convention will covers multi sport and altitude training, speed, endurance and sports-specific training. Aerobics and aquafit will be covered along with agility training.

Workouts with New Zealand leading instructors will be possible in aerobics, kickboxing and aquafit.
