SummerTimes Free Lunchtime Concert Friday 23 February 2001, 12.30pm to 2.00pm Cathedral Square |
Deafening Whispers will give their first performance in Cathedral Square on Friday 23 February, playing a variety of styles including pop, rock, reggae, covers and original compositions.
Deafening Whispers were formed three years ago, when all seven members of the band attended Chisnallwood Intermediate School. Now aged 12 to 14 years of age, members of the band are: guitarists Jay French and Joe Sampson, Micheal Bell playing bass guitar, trumpet and percussion, Julia Moloney on keyboards, and drummer Nathan Head, along with identical twin lead singers Laural & Sharaine Barrett.
In 2000, Deafening Whispers gained further exposure when they earned third place in the regional finals of the Pepsi Smokefree Rock quest series. Original compositions make up two thirds of the material performed by Deafening Whispers, which is a credit to all members of this young band, with their diverse range of musical tastes.
The SummerTimes Lunchtime Concert Series continues in Cathedral Square from 12.30pm to 2.00pm every Friday until 2 March.
