Free Lunchtime Concert

Friday 24 August, 12pm to 1pm

In a spirited performance of strong melody lines and descriptive lyrics, 'Tribalincs' will entertain the lunchtime crowd in Cathedral Square this Friday, with their own unique fusion of jazz, funk, rock and gospel.

'Tribalincs' is made up of Marcus Vanilau (Pacific Underground and Verse Two) on keyboard and vocals, Tim Timo on bass, and Vanessa Vaele who acts as MC. Along with three students from the Hagley and Polytech Jazz Schools, Norman Vaele on guitar and vocals, Emily Read on flute and vocals, and Arona Vaele on drums. In the last 18 months, 'Tribalincs' have been seen performing at Skate Jam, the LYFE festival, and the Big Gig Out.

Prior to this weeks concert (at approximately 11.30am) 'The Battle of The Forces' coin trail challenge, organised by Northland Malls in association with the Ronald McDonald House South Island Charitable Trust, will be culminating in Cathedral Square. The coin trail challenge is being organised as part of a month of fundraising efforts by the Trust, in order to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Ronald McDonald House project. The challenge will be battled out between the Police, the Army, and the Fire Service.
