Work suspended on cell phone tower
Christchurch City Councillor Ron Wright has welcomed Telecoms agreement to suspend work on the cell phone tower in Normans Road, Strowan, while efforts are made to find alternative sites.
The Christchurch City Council and residents representatives met today and agreed to work with Telecom in a quest for another site.
This follows Tuesdays public meeting in St Patricks School Hall, Strowan, which Council staff, Councillors, residents, and Telecom representatives attended to discuss the residents concerns about the cell tower approved near their properties.
The Council and residents are pleased about the goodwill shown by Telecom in agreeing to stop work on the cell site.
This will allow investigations to be made by Council staff and Telecom into alternative sites.
