Search For Mudfish Home
Tomorrow 23 March at 9.30am at the Travis Wetland, off Travis Road, experts will be probing its waterways to find a possible home for the rare mudfish.
Members of the Travis Wetland Trust, the Department of Conservation, the Christchurch City Council, Ngai Tahu, and a Lincoln University PhD student will gather to use electrical fishing equipment to find out what fish already live in the wetlands.
It is known that eels eat mudfish but they can co-exist if eels are in small numbers.
However, the experts want to know if the mudfish can be introduced to the wetland successfully.
