Keep Christchurch Tidy with Car Litter Bags
Hundreds of bags are to be given away - not the Christchurch City Council's black rubbish bags but white rubbish bags.
The Keep Christchurch Beautiful Campaign has bundles of car litterbags that it wants residents to use.
The co-ordinator of The Keep Beautiful Campaign, Ingrid Le Fevre, says the bags are great for "accumulating rubbish that we all get in the car."
This year, larger bags have been designed to keep up with the growing trend towards takeaways.
Ingrid Le Fevre says: "The bags are also fantastic for a long trip. We don't want people to throw rubbish in the countryside and use it as though it is a tip."
The bags are available at the Civic Offices, Tuam Street, the Pioneer and Centennial Leisure Centres, the Automobile Association, and all Council Service Centres.
