Expressway Moves Closer To Finish
Another milestone towards the completion of the $16m Woolston-Burwood Expressway will probably be reached on Thursday 5 October.
Then signals at the Wainoni-Bexley roads intersection are expected to be switched on for the first time.
Work on the realignment of Bexley Road, alongside Wainoni Primary School, is finished and is in use.
The intersection of Wainoni and Bexley roads will operate as a T intersection until about March when the new link road, from the bridge being built over the River Avon, will be opened to join with Bexley and Wainoni roads.
The embankment of that link is in place but the work is not finished completely. This section of the Christchurch City Council-Transit NZ expressway is expected to be opened in March.
The extension of the expressway from Bexley Road to Birch Street will go for public consultation within the next few months.
